Francesca Khalifa is a Brooklyn-based Italian-Egyptian pianist, researcher, organizer and activist. Awarded by renowned pianist and musicologist Paul Badura – Skoda as winner of the Ferrara International Piano Festival in 2014, the pianist’s most recent highlights include solo concerts with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Filarmonica Ettore Pozzoli, the Orchestra Sinfonica Junior La Verdi, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra String Quartet, Orchestra Amadeus and recitals in China, Cuba, Italy and USA.
Khalifa's mentors are the Cuban pianist and pedagogue German Diez (1924-2014) and pianist Ena Bronstein-Barton, both former pupils of Claudio Arrau. Her research on German Diez is at the base of the documentary "Piano Lessons", which received the official endorsement of the American Liszt Society. The movie premiered on October, 15th 2021 at the University of Michigan during the ALS Annual Festival and has also been officially selected at the Silicon Beach Film Festival 2021 (US), the XXXIX Turin Film Festival 2021 (IT), Flickfair Film Festival, and is now available on several streaming platforms (Tubi Tv, Alice Movies on Xumo and others).
Khalifa is the co-founder and co-director of EXTENSITY Concert Series, a Yamaha sponsored concert series in New York which has been featured on NPR, I Care if you Listen TV, WWFM and KAWL FM
